Council approves garbage contract for next five years
The Plainview City Council reviewed three bids for the new garbage contract for the City and chose Aschoff Garbage as the contractor at the group’s November 11 meeting. Two FFA Alum receive American Degree
Six Plainview FFA students and two graduate FFA alum represented Plainview at the FFA National Convention in Indianapolis, Ind. this year, where the local Chapter received two more American Degrees. Michael Krause and Leonard Risinger, the FFA alumni, both received the fruits of their labors the last four to five years with the awarding of the FFA’s highest honor, the American Degree. While at the convention, the students heard nationally-renowned motivational speakers, participate in workshops put on by present and past State officers and take tours of some of the industry and culture of Indianapolis.
Pirates elevated to semi-final play
The Plainview Pirate varsity football team locked in their semi-finals advancement on Monday evening with a driving 28-14 win over the Ravenna Bluejays.The Pirates advance into their third round of play this Saturday, Nov. 15 at 4:00 p.m. at Blue Hill against the 10-1 Bobcats.

Obama elected president ... Locals elected to various positions
Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama made history on Tuesday evening as he was predicted as the first African-American winner of the office of the President of the United States. Obama won 338 of the nation’s electoral votes, outscoring Republican candidate Sen. John McCain’s 155 as of Tuesday evening, which prompted McCain’s concession speech late Tuesday night.
